T-shirt yarn

How much does your t-shirt yarn weigh?

Great question.  Our newest supplier of t-shirt yarn rolls it up to a certain size - 14cm x 14cm.  Generally this weighs around 650g, however there is a degree of variation, depending on how tightly the machine rolled it up and the particular kind of fabric.  This also means that there will be a degree of variation in the length of yarn contained in the roll, as is the nature of this recycled textile.  Sadly there isn't time to weigh each roll individually!  

Don't forget it's recycled

Our t-shirt yarn is made from the off-cuts of t-shirt manufacturing, so you're doing a great thing by saving it from landfill! Due to the recycled nature of this product, the colour and thickness can vary slightly. Imperfections and knots are a common feature in all balls. As we can not guarantee exact colour matching, we recommend that you purchase enough yarn to complete your project - we might never get that exact colour again!

We try to match our photographs as closely as we can to the colour of the yarn, but differences with different screens may cause colour variations (even trying to match my iPad to my laptop!).

Can you let me know when my favourite colour is in stock?

While we would love to be able to keep track of everybody's wish list, and contact you individually, running a yarn store takes a fair bit of time!  To make sure that you get your order as quickly and as accurately as possible, we don't have the resources for let you know when a specific colour is in stock, especially with t-shirt yarn, when there is no guarantee that we will ever stock the same colours again.  Meanwhile, please do pop back from time to time, and check what's currently in stock.

Do you have colour variations?

While we spend a lot of time trying to ensure that our yarns are identical colours, from time to time there may be some slight variations between yarn colours.  This is a bit like choosing from a different dye-lot in a traditional yarn.  We work really hard to try to minimise this issue.  If you're ever unhappy with the colour of your yarn, let us know, and you can post the yarn back, in original condition, for a refund.

The colour looks different in person, to the website

Whilst we make every effort we can to try to precisely edit our photos to match the yarns, there is and will always be a variation between different screens and devices, regarding the way the colour is displayed.  If you're unhappy with the yarn that you have been sent, you can choose to post it back to us, in original condition, for a full refund of the price of the yarn (excluding any original shipping costs).


We offer a flat rate of $13.50 for all shipping within Australia - whether it's 1 ball, or 7! Beyond that, if you spend over $100.00 on your order, shipping within Australia is free!

We do offer international shipping, but the prices reflect the actual international courier shipping prices, so I'm sorry if it's a bit out of your budget.  We try to keep them as close to the actual prices as possible.

How will it get to me?

Where possible, we ship within Australia with a carbon-neutral shipping company.  If you're not home at the time they arrive, you can let us know if/where you would like it left. If you do not advise us that you're happy for the courier to leave it at the address you've given, we will request a 'signature on delivery'.  This means that  they'll reorganise another delivery time/place with you, or leave it at a local location (eg. a newsagency) where you can collect it.  If it's more convenient for you, you can even have it delivered to your office - just not a post office box (sorry!).  If you live in a very rural location, or have a PO Box, we use Australia Post.

For international shipping, we also use a courier.

Processing time

We try to get your new yarn and tools to you as soon as possible!  Unless otherwise stated, we should have it out the door, and on it's way to you within 2-3 business days (and usually the next business day!).

Customs and import taxes

Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply, if they are having purchases shipped to another country. I know that customs delays can be a major frustration, but I am afraid I can't do anything to speed them up.

Returns and exchanges

I gladly accept returns and exchanges.  Just contact me within: 14 days of delivery
Ship items back to me within: 30 days of delivery.
If I have already posted your order, I cannot accept cancellations. But please do contact me if you have any problems with your order.
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, I can't accept returns for:
  • Digital downloads

Conditions of return

Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.
